Welcome to Simply Scripture. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Simply Scripture iOS application (the “App”) and the website at simplyscripture.app (the “Site”). By downloading, accessing, or using the App or the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App or the Site.
1. About these Terms
These Terms form an agreement between you and Simply Scripture (“we”, “us”, “our”). They apply to everyone who uses the App or the Site. We may update these Terms from time to time, as described in section 11.
2. The App and your licence to use it
Simply Scripture is a distraction-free Bible reading app for iOS. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, in line with these Terms and with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
3. Eligibility and age
The App is suitable for users of all ages. If you are under the age at which you can form a binding contract in your country, you may use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App or the Site;
- reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where this restriction is prohibited by law;
- use the App or the Site in any unlawful way or for any unlawful purpose; or
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App, the Site, or their underlying systems.
5. Bible text and third-party copyright
Scripture in the App is provided through the YouVersion Bible Platform and is subject to YouVersion’s terms of use. The Bible translations made available are the copyrighted property of their respective publishers and are used under the terms of their permissions. You may read and quote Scripture for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to the publishers’ copyright notices below. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Bible text except as permitted by the relevant copyright holder.

6. Our intellectual property
The Simply Scripture name, logo, design, and the App and Site software (excluding the third-party Bible text described in section 5) are owned by us and are protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of those rights to you, except for the limited licence to use the App set out in section 2.
7. Availability and changes to the App
The App is provided free of charge. We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time without notice. We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
8. Price
Simply Scripture is free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or advertisements. If this ever changes, any paid feature would be clearly described and entirely optional, and we would never place the Bible text itself behind a paywall.
9. Disclaimers
The App and the Site are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App or the Site will meet your requirements or that any defects will be corrected. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the App or the Site. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date above. Your continued use of the App or the Site after any change means you accept the revised Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. We may suspend or end your right to use the App if you breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including sections 5, 6, 9, 10, and 13 — will continue to apply.
13. Governing law
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, although if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.
